Brose bamberg has found a new sport director. Successor to ginas rutkauskas, from whom the basketball cup winners parted company in february, will be leo de rycke. The nine-time german champions and the 54-year-old belgian have agreed on a three-year contract.
De rycke comes from the belgian top club telenet giants antwerp, where he was already active as a player before. For more than nine years, he has been managing the sporting affairs of the one-time belgian champions and three-time cup winners as team coach and sports director. "Leo de rycke is our preferred candidate for the post. He is well connected in the player and agent market and has already proven his strength in discovering and challenging talent. He speaks german and his authentic and down-to-earth personality will quickly make him a fub in bamberg. We are sure that we have found the right man for the position of sport director", said arne dirks, general manager of brose bamberg, in a release from the club.
De rycke will probably be in charge of the team even before he officially takes up his post on 1 january. July pushes the squad planning of the bamberger for the upcoming season. "My visits to freak city have shown me that basketball is a passion for fans and club alike. Together, we will work hard to ensure that brose bamberg remains a bright star on the basketball map in the rapidly evolving world of basketball.", said the belgian.
De rycke thanked the telenet giants antwerp for their cooperation over the past nine years and commented on his departure from the belgian top club as follows: "sometimes a train goes by and you have to jump on it.&Quot.
